Excavation of the Victoria Cross Station cavern is nearing completion. It is the biggest underground cavern built so far on the Sydney Metro project, with an excavated span of 26m, height of 19m and length of 265m.
More than 60 Pells Sullivan Meynink (PSM) technical staff have worked on the project with John Holland CPB Ghella during tender, detailed design and the current construction phase. PSM was responsible for the temporary cavern support and the permanent structural lining. A team of 33 PSM engineers and geologists visited the site on 12 July 2019 to appreciate the enormity of the station cavern and the significant engineering feat that is being undertaken.
