Bio
Principal Geotechnical Engineer at PSM, Andrew de Ambrosis has over 20 years’ experience in detailed numerical modelling, geotechnical investigation, analysis and design.
Andrew has worked on a wide range of projects within Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia. These include tunnelling, open-cut mining, long distance water pipelines, dams, sewer and wastewater systems, pavements, bridge foundations, road cuttings as well as residential and commercial development.
Andrew was the lead tunnel designer for Sydney’s Wynyard Walk, a 9 m span pedestrian tunnel. The tunnel includes low cover and significant interaction with existing infrastructure including the foundations for a 30-storey office block. Andrew was also design lead for Kedron Caverns with a tunnel span up to 26 m at Airport Link, Brisbane.
OTHER SPECIAL INTERESTS
Andrew is a member of the Australian Geomechanics Society (AGS). In 2015, he served as committee member at the Australian Organisation Committee for the 9th International Symposium on Field Measurements in Geomechanics.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Andrew has authored and co-authored several technical papers in journals and international conferences on subjects including, seismic design of tunnels, 3D geological modelling and rock mass classing, and numerical analysis of large adjacent caverns.
