Principal Engineering Geologist at PSM, Beatriz Estrada has 12 years’ experience in her field. Beatriz’s areas of practice include earthquake hazard assessments, earthquake geotechnical engineering, and development of geological and geotechnical models for large infrastructure civil, and mining projects.

With a strong interest in the application of engineering geology to all aspects of civil engineering, mining and tunnelling projects, Beatriz is passionate about the impact of natural hazards, particularly earthquakes on infrastructure.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Beatriz is a member of the Australian Geomechanics Society (AGS), the Australasian Tunnelling Society (ATS) and the Australian Earthquake Engineering Society (AEES). She is a Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Western Australia, regularly publishes technical papers and presents at earthquake engineering, civil and tunnelling conferences.

Beatriz specialises in earthquake hazards assessments and the application of appropriate earthquake loads for design. She also has expertise in geological and geotechnical studies for mining and large civil projects. Her fields of special competence include:
- Probabilistic and deterministic seismic hazard assessments for mining and civil infrastructure
- Static and dynamic slope analysis and design
- Geological and geotechnical models for civil and tunnelling sectors
- Site investigations
