Mark has a keen interest in short-life operations and large-scale pits in complex risk settings and has a particular talent at finding practical solutions to operational issues. Marked has worked on several large and technically challenging projects including Olympic Dam open pit expansion and in the geothermal conditions at Lihir gold mine. He has also worked on several prominent Sydney transport sector tunnelling projects including large caverns with shallow cover for the Epping to Chatswood Rail Link.
Mark has a Masters in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) where he also lectures part-time in postgraduate studies at the School of Mining and School of Civil Engineering, in mine slope stability and aspects of engineering geology. Mark is actively involved in international technical conferences including, Co-Chairing FMGM2015, and presenting the Managing Unstable Slopes workshop through the Australian Centre of Geomechanics.
