Tim is passionate about the application of geology to all aspects of civil engineering, mining and tunnelling from the smallest to the largest of projects. He is a firm believer in the link between a good understanding of the engineering geological conditions and robust engineering outcomes. He also subscribes to a Fookes (1997) proverb suggesting that there is yet no substitute for an informed brain and trained pair of eyes.
For the last several years, Tim has presented lectures on geological and geotechnical models for post graduate courses part time at the UNSW School of Civil Engineering. He is an active member of the Australian Geomechanics Society (AGS) and the Australasian Tunnelling Society (ATS) and has in the past regularly contributed to and coordinated industry training courses run by AGS. Tim regularly publishes technical papers and presents at conferences in the civil and tunnelling spaces.
